CARLA DU PLESSIS
I’m Carla, and I’m a passionate live wedding painter! My journey began the day as soon as I could pick up a brush and pencil. Raised on a farm, I moved to Stellenbosch in 2019 to pursue a Fine Arts degree. After graduating a wonderful opportunity led me to painting live at weddings, a path that changed my life completely! The following year I got married, diving further into the world of weddings both personally and professionally. My favourite part of live wedding painting is creating a large acrylic or oil painting for the couple, starting with a blank canvas on the day, and then witnessing the couple’s awe and surprise at the finished artwork.

TANYA APPELGRYN
Hi, I’m Tanya! I’ve been creating for as long as I can remember, and my passion lies in bringing peoples creative ideas to life while sharing in their excitement. That’s why my favorite part of being a live painter is the people!
As a multi-media artist and designer, I hold a bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication Design from Stellenbosch University. I approach my work with intention, curating each piece to reflect the couple and the occasion. One of my favorite mottos that keeps me inspired every day is: “Get up, get dressed, and show up-even when you have nowhere to be.”

CHRISNA VORSTER
My name is Chrisna Vorster, a small town farm girl who grew up in Winterton, South Africa, at the foothills of the Drakensberg mountains. This is also where I currently reside, on my childhood farm with my husband and two kids.
I owe a lot of who I am to growing up on the farm. I love the outdoors and being active, I believe my love for art and creating has a lot to do with being able to be outdoors, run around freely and witness all the beauty God has created. I feel very fortunate to have an amazing support system which has allowed me to take risks and learn that there is so much beauty and life to be found in doing things that scare you. That taking risks and trying new things and asking for help is where we grow.
That is what I aim to do with my art. To push myself creatively.
That being said, my favourite part of the process is probably the part that scares the most people, and yes it can be scary. It is the live painting part. Exactly for the reason that it allows me to learn, to grow. It allows me to build connections and be a part of something magical.

JESSE VAN DER SCHYFF
My favorite part of being a live watercolor guest portrait artist with Danielle Jordaan Studio is witnessing the joy and surprise on people’s faces when they receive their portraits.
Art is my escape and a way to stay grounded. I cherish the hands-on process of painting and creating something tangible. I’m currently studying Visual Communication Design and Photography, always eager to learn new techniques and explore different artistic mediums.

KEREN SETTON
My favourite part about live event painting is that it challenges me to paint fast, which is exhilarating and is teaching me about not getting too caught up in the details of an artwork (I’m a bit of a perfectionist). I also really enjoy creating a special memory for the guests, and it feels great to be adding to the joy of the celebration.
I’m a multimedia artist based in Cape Town. I studied painting at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, where I majored in painting and printmaking. Since then, I have built a diverse creative career, working in the film industry as a set and prop designer, teaching art, and now as a freelance artist and illustrator. I work primarily in paint and embroidery, blending traditional and contemporary techniques to create intricate, expressive works.

MAGGIE LE ROUX
Art has been a constant companion since my preschool days. As a self-taught artist, I'm captivated by the beauty that permeates life, from the quiet moments to the grand moments. Whether working with rich textures of oil paint or the bold strokes of acrylics, I strive to capture the essence of what moves me. My recent move from the serence landscapes of northern Namibia to the dynamic energy of Johannesburg has been a transformative experience, a blossoming into a new creative phase. Ultimately, I hope my art serves as a spark, encourging others to explore and cultivate their own creative passions.

ZOE TAGUMA
Zoë is a city girl at heart who grew up moving around and formally studied Biokinetics at Wits University. Throughout her life, she has always had a love for capturing beautiful moments. She took art at a school level and started selling watercolour calligraphy prints in university which lead to portraits and then live wedding painting. Painting holds a special place in her heart and she always has a creative project on the go.
Jesus changed her life and she loves sharing His goodness with others. She also loves coffee, all things yellow and can spend hours caught up in a good book.
